In 2023, our industry has undergone a significant transformation and development, marked by an increasing recognition among members and organisations in the logistics and supply chain sector of the crucial role digitalisation plays across their operations. We have seen companies globally seek to implement digital community systems, not only to facilitate trade but also as a cornerstone for supporting sustainable initiatives.
Kale has been focused on helping the maritime industry to prepare for the International Maritime Organization’s mandatory Maritime Single Window (MSW) deadline in 2024. Notably, we’ve begun implementing the Malaysia Maritime Single Window (MMSW) for Port Klang Authority and its nine subsidiary ports, meaning Malaysia will now represent the largest network of tech-enabled ports in a single country.
Despite this progress, the industry still has a way to go in 2024 and our readiness study involving 200 ports revealed that 30 per cent are not ready to meet impending electronic data exchange regulations despite potential savings of US$50 billion.
Kale’s digital solutions have also improved operational efficiency, visibility, and reduced paper waste at airports across the globe. Our Cargo Community System and Cargo Management System have helped more than 10 airports worldwide achieve carbon-neutral operations, including India’s GMR Goa International Airport and Turkey’s Istanbul Grand Airport.
