13 Dec Kale’s Air Cargo Sustainability Report: finding a green future with Airport ecosystems
The air cargo industry is responsible for 2.4 per cent of the overall carbon emissions yearly. While the industry has been speaking a lot about thwarting emissions and its ill effects, but the progress is very slow. To accelerate sustainable practices, technology made significant inroads. During the pandemic airports and the allied community adopted technology at a 5X rate for business continuity and staff and cargo safety.
The world learned how critical supply chains are. And the contribution of air cargo to the bottom line of airlines is more evident than ever. As we navigate the current situation, air cargo’s priorities have not changed, we need to continue to focus on sustainability, digitalization and safety.
However, a larger tool or a platform that connects the entire airport ecosystem to run smooth cross-border trade is still essential. Some airports chose the path less taken to digitize and automate operations with Cargo Community Systems (CCS) and have created a desirable sustainable future.
Surprisingly, not only did they continue to thrive in tough times, but they also realized significant operational synergies. Some of them include improved efficiency, lower truck dwell time, reduced fuel consumption for trucks, lower carbon emissions, faster turnaround time, and paperless trade.
Kale Logistics Solutions conducted a study to understand the sustainability goals achieved by the airport ecosystem with the intervention of tech solutions and point services.
