Mumbai, India, Monday, May 09th, 2025: The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) has announced that its national Maritime Single Window (MSW), designed and implemented by Kale Logistics Solutions (Kale) along with its strategic partner, Primatel Communication Sdn Bhd, has gone live in Brunei Darussalam.
The launch was officiated by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Chairman of MPABD.
Yang Mulia Captain (Ret.) Zil Husam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive of MPABD, highlighted the launch of the MSW as a milestone in the Sultanate’s continued digital transformation agenda.
In his remarks, Yang Mulia, Captain (Ret.) Zil Husam stated, “We are taking a major step forward in transforming the way ship clearance processes are conducted in Brunei Darussalam. The implementation of the Maritime Single Window, as mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) under the FAL Convention, allows for the electronic submission, processing, and approval of port clearance information – all through a single online platform.”
Following the successful implementation of Phase 1, the upcoming Phase 2 of MPABD’s Digital Transformation initiative will focus on the full digitalisation and centralisation of all MPABD services. This includes vessel registration, licensing, maritime training, financial systems, and online payments.
Mr Vineet Malhotra, Director and Co-Founder of Kale Logistics Solutions, mentioned that “The launch of Brunei’s Maritime Single Window is a major step in Brunei’s maritime digital transformation. The system has been designed not only to ensure smoother port operations across Brunei but also assist in enabling global competitiveness and increasing trade opportunities for the country.”
Brunei Darussalam has already seen a steady increase in the number of inbound and outbound ships at its ports, with the highest number of ship traffic to date recorded in 2024. The MSW is designed to streamline and expedite the submission and approval of port clearance documentation.
Kale has developed the MSW to further digitalise Brunei’s port systems, allowing the submission and processing of maritime trade data to occur electronically, thereby enabling faster decision-making for cargo release and port clearances.
The implementation of the MSW aligns with Brunei’s national transformation agenda, building on the country’s pre-existing digital infrastructure to serve as a central digital platform for shipping lines, port authorities, customs, and logistics stakeholders.
Kale was recently named the Best Cargo Community System Provider at the CargoNXT Recognitions in India—an event that honours exceptional achievements in the logistics sector. Kale’s Cargo Community Systems now supports trade across more than 150 ports and airports globally, driving paperless operations, enhancing efficiency, and promoting sustainability.
