Our client is a leading international Airport in Southeast Europe that connects the region to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond, playing a pivotal role in the region’s economic development. The airport handles approximately 90 per cent of the country’s cargo transport and key airlines that operate from the airport.
An in-house system was in place for standalone processes and functions, which created a siloed work ecosystem in the airport. A dedicated team handled the manual capture of export and import flight messages, which was prone to errors and potential data loss. Over the period, all this led to operational inefficiencies thereby reducing the airport’s potential to grow exponentially.
GALAXY, the flagship airport cargo management system from Kale Logistics Solutions streamlined all these processes by facilitating the flow of import and export data through standardised EDI messages, significantly reducing manual errors and enhancing data integrity. In terms of imports specifically, compiling flight and shipment paper data for customs clearance was a cumbersome manual task.
GALAXY addressed this by establishing an interface with customs, which allowed automatic transmission of flight and shipment data, efficiently segregated based on shipment destination and product type. Response management from customs was seamlessly integrated, ensuring that all subsequent business processes could proceed without unnecessary delays.
The comprehensive integration within GALAXY went beyond just data management. It ensured precise weight capture by integrating with weighing scales, boosting the security and reliability of transactions. Additionally, the use of hand-held devices allowed for real-time updates on shipments during crucial phases such as acceptance, build-up, warehousing, breakdown, and delivery, which facilitated instantaneous discrepancy recording.
Moreover, GALAXY’s built-in checks promoted a process-oriented approach that enhanced operational efficiency and safeguarded against revenue loss. The system’s integration with financial systems provided a granular daily breakdown of revenue per customer and shipment, bringing unprecedented clarity and accountability to financial operations. Overall, GALAXY’s implementation marked a significant stride toward streamlined, error-free, and efficient logistics management.
ULD Management – This module enabled sending of UCM (In & Out), Stock Check Messages and LUC messages. Capability to record ULD closure, record scale weight, and Contour code of ULD. In addition to this, it enables Ground Handlers to transmit EDI messages as per IATA and other regulatory standards.
Courier Handling –Courier and Mail shipments along with cargo shipments are processed effectively with the highest level of efficiency. Now the user can capture the AV7/CN28 details, including the mail type. This makes handling of courier mail seamless.
Dashboard – GALAXY offers all the relevant information in a single dashboard that enables them to make informed business decisions. This dashboard offers end-to-end information on data flowing within the ecosystem and empower stakeholders to transform operations.
